The effect of anthropogenic emission, meteorological factors, and carbon dioxide on the surface ozone increase in China from 2008 to 2018 during the East Asia summer monsoon season

Abstract. Despite the implementation of Clean Air Action Plan by Chinese government in 2013, issue increasing surface ozone (O3) concentrations remains a significant environmental concern China. In this study, we used an improved regional climate–chemistry–ecology model (RegCM-Chem-YIBs) to investigate impact anthropogenic emissions, meteorological factors, and CO2 changes on summer O3 levels China from 2008 2018. Compared its predecessor, has been enhanced concerning photolysis radiative impacts O3. The investigations showed emissions were primary contributor increase China, responsible for 4.08–18.51 ppb North Plain. However, changed conditions played crucial role decreasing may have more than some regions. Changed critical variability through forcing isoprene particularly southern inducing southeast coast (0.28–0.46 ppb) decrease southwest central (−0.51 −0.11 ppb). Our study comprehensively analyzed variation across various perspectives highlighted importance considering variations when designing long-term control policies, especially high-vegetation-coverage areas.
